FAQ's on the '05 Maverick

Updated 12-15-05

So far the questions have been very straight forward, nothing too out of the ordinary:

2.5mm this time?  Yes, after a lot of testing with the prototype chassis, it was decided that this year's chassis would be cut out of high quality 2.5mm carbon fiber.  It seems to make it easier to find a good setup, it holds that good setup longer, reacts just as well to changes, and inspires a confident feel when wheeling it around the track.

Will the Servo Plate work on other chassis?  You bet it will!  It was one heck of a smart little part Brad came up with!  You can mount a servo in just a few minutes on the '05 Maverick H.E..  To be used on other brands, you'll have to drill two holes in the chassis and then the Servo Plate should work just fine.

What Rear Steer Slugs come in the kit?  All of them!  5 are included in the kit.  Rear steer is great tuning option, and we want you to have the full selection right from the start.

Should I order any spare parts with my kit?  As with any kit, no matter which manufacturer, having some spares is a great idea.  For the '05, I suggest a Front Bumper.  If you really want your bases covered, then a Crossbrace and a Bottom Pod Plate would also be something to have in the parts box.

How do I tell which Side Shock Mount is the left and right?  Simple, look around the 6 holes for mounting the shock.  The "neck" of each mount is different.  Compare the mounts to the instruction sheet, or to a picture here on the website, and you'll quickly see the difference.

What's the piece of tubing in with the center shock mount?  The little piece of fuel tubing that is included with our carbon fiber center shock mount is to be used as a shock bushing for an HPI center shock.  Cut off a small piece and slide it into the shock eyelet, then use the supplied bolt to mount the shock in the shock mount.  When using an Associated shock, use the Associated plastic bushing.

What if I run on a track that I never use any rear steer?  Well, you can always set it up with the 0 degree slug and you're fine.  But, if you know you won't be tuning with rear steer, you can always mount an '04 Bottom Plate on the '05 pod.  It will mount right up, take away the rear steer option, and save a little weight.

How do I get the offset t-plate and offset pod lined up properly?
The easiest way to figure it all out is this:
1)  Unbolt the t-plate and pod from the chassis.
2)  Set the t-plate in the centered position (without bolting it down).
3)  Set the pod in the offset position (without bolting it down).
4)  Move the t-plate to the offset position (do not move the pod).
5)  The t-plate should now line up with the left set of holes on both the chassis and the pod.
6)  Bolt it all together.

More coming soon ....  I'll be adding more information to this page very soon.  Send in your questions and I'll answer them asap and post them here ...
